Auto Report is the reporting robot of MentDB Weak: write a SQL query once, choose a format, and the report is generated on demand or sent automatically by email on a schedule. Each user only sees and runs the reports granted to them.

01 What you automate

SQL ReportsA SQL query on any MentDB connection, with a name, a category, a description and an output file name prefix.

FORMATS OutputsCSV, Excel (.xls and .xlsx), HTML, JSON, PDF and XML.

RUN On demandSynchronous reports give a download link right away; asynchronous reports are built in the background and the link is sent by email.

SCHEDULE Automatic sendingNext execution date, repeat every N hours or N days, day of month and day of week filters, and no email when there is no data.

STATE MonitoringWaiting, running or error, with the last start and end dates and the error message of a failed run.

RIGHTS Per userEach report is granted to a list of users. The server checks the right before every run.

02 Built for production

CRON job: an hourly MentDB job runs the scheduled reports. It is installed paused, ready to start when you are.
Dedicated SMTP connection: the emails go through their own MentDB connection.
Categories: sort the reports by category.
Clear roles: only system creates, updates and deletes reports, categories and rights; the other users simply run their reports.
Multilingual: every label is a translation key, delivered in English and French.

How it fits together → Auto Report is a MentDB Weak application: one MQL file (auto_report_1.0.3.mql) installs the scripts, the tables, the translations, the rights tags, the SMTP connection and the CRON job. The files are written in web/https/auto_report/download/.
